We are excited to present to you our esteemed speaker, Dr. Abigail Copiaco, for our upcoming discussion on “Introduction to Machine Learning”.
Dr. Abigail Copiaco is a highly accomplished individual in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing, and Machine Learning. She obtained her PhD from the University of Wollongong (UOW) in Australia in December 2021, and was awarded the “Examiners’ Commendation for Outstanding PhD Thesis” for her work. Throughout her academic career, she has consistently excelled and graduated at the top of her class, earning the “Top Graduate” award for her BEng. degree. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the University of Dubai (UD) and an active researcher working on international collaborative projects in various areas of Artificial Intelligence.
With over 5 years of experience teaching Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications engineering subjects, Dr. Copiaco is passionate about teaching and research. She has co-authored 22 publications and has received three research awards, including the Best Paper award for two consecutive years from a reputable conference. She is also a reviewer for various conferences. Dr. Copiaco has consistently received top evaluation ratings and several awards for her teaching, including the Teaching Excellence Award – Highly Commended in 2019, and the Teaching Excellence Award – Winner in 2020.
In addition to her academic and research pursuits, Dr. Copiaco is also heavily involved in industry collaborations, such as teaching Artificial Intelligence and Design Thinking workshops with IBM, and supervising interns with Software AG. She is also dedicated to community outreach and conducts workshops for early Engineering students. She believes in continuous professional development and has acquired teaching certifications from Swinburne University, and instructor certifications in Artificial Intelligence and Enterprise Design Thinking with IBM.
