July 9, 2021: Thirteen (13) new AER Engineers and Associate ASEAN Engineers are conferred during the ASEAN Engineering Registry Conferment Ceremony. IECEP UAE sends congratulations to them. On the same event, our very own Engr. Ronald M. Esguerra, 2016 IECEP UAE Governor, receives AER recognition for his professional and social contributions (below). Also receiving similar recognition was Engr. A. C. Galeon. Both former and latter will always be remembered by the global professionals.
ENGR. RONALD M. ESGUERRA (1975 – 2020) was destined for greatness, greatness that he shared to all so that others can be great in their own ways.
Ronald graduated with bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of the East in the Philippines. He was among the top 10 of the graduating class and was part of the UE Honor Society. In 1997, he passed the ECE Professional Licensure Examination and ranked at top 7th Place to become a registered Electronics and Communications Engineer (14799). He pursued his professional development until he attained Professional Electronics Engineer (0001004) and ASEAN Engineer (8294).
Ronald had an impressive professional life. In 1997-1999, he worked as a Systems Engineer in the field of Data Network Administration, Operations and Maintenance in Bayan Telecommunications Company in the Philippines. In 1999-2008, he worked as a Network Engineer in the field of Data Network Operations Center in Saudi Telecom Company (STC) in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. And in 2008, he joined Emirates Integrated Telecom Company (Du Telecom) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In his 11 years with his Du family, he worked as Network Design and Planning Engineer (2008-2010), Senior Engineer – Transport IP Planning (2010-2014), Manager – Network Infrastructure and Services (2014), Senior Manager – Network Infrastructure and Services (2014-2017), and Senior Manager – SOC, Head of Transport Network (2017-2020). He was a celebrated and multi-awarded engineer, a constant achiever and well-respected by both the management and his colleagues. He reached the highest position held by an Overseas Filipino Worker in Du Telecom. He showed his exemplary commitment to promote the profession and to showcase Filipino talents and skills. He also helped many of his colleagues in the profession and other OFW’s secure employment in UAE.
Ronald had more than 23 years of professional service and contribution in the Telecommunications field with his remarkable proficiencies on Telecom Projects, Data Center Projects, Mobile, Fixed, and Broadband Networks, and IP Network Switching, Routing and Security – being a Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP) and Juniper Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS-M). A few of his many notable projects are: IP Backhauling for LTE, LTE-A, C-RAN, 5G, NB-IoT and 4K/8KTV, 17 Data Centers, Mobile Core (PGW/SGSN/GGSN MSS/MGW) and Access (SeGW/RNC/BSC/enodeB/nodeB/BTS), Fixed Network Services such as VoIP, IPTV, SBC and ISBC, Call Centers in India, Jordan and Egypt, Fixed Access Rollout for EMAAR projects and Dubai Metro, Burj Khalifa Network Design Project, Fixed Access Network Project, MPLS and IP/VPN STC Project, BRAS Project, STC Internet Project.
Yet Ronald was more prominently known for his kind, friendly and fun nature. He had fulfilled his goal to support people. It was 2010 when he joined the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines UAE Chapter, a non-profit organization focused on professional development and community service in the UAE. In 2015, he was one of the speakers in IECEP International Convention in Doha, Qatar. By 2016, he was elected as Chapter Governor of his IECEP UAE family. He lead the organization on its several successful activities like heading the delegation to the 3rd IECEP International Convention in Manama, Bahrain in 2016, as Event Chairman chairing the 4th IECEP GCC Summit Convention in 2017, providing 4 Technical Seminars in his term, as Technical Speaker educating in the IECEP UAE 8th Anniversary, inspiring aspirants for license and profession upgrades, attending the Philippine Professional Organization activities, participating in the Family Fun Day with other Filipino organizations, participating in Fun Games, leading the delegation to the 118th Philippine Independence Day, as instructor and contributor supporting the Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) examinees, collaborating with a review center in the Philippines to supplement the SPLE reviews, sponsoring Mass offerings, supporting Charity Program to our Kababayans in the POLO OWWA ward in the Philippine Embassy in the UAE and many more Donation and Assistance Drives the chapter initiated. Some of his noteworthy recognitions are “2017 IECEP INC. Most Outstanding Electronics Engineer”, “IECEP UAE Chapter Governor Service Award” in 2017 for his leadership and commitment to the chapter’s mission, “IECEP UAE Excellence Service Award” in 2018 for his accomplishments that led to 10 successful years of the chapter, and “Certificate of Appreciation” from the Philippine Embassy and the Bayanihan Council his support and active involvement during the 118th Philippine Independence Day Celebration and more.
Ronald is an embodiment of an exceptional ASEAN Engineer, a display of balance between professional excellence and humanitarian ideology. He will be remembered and will continue to inspire Filipino Professionals and aspiring Telecom Engineers.
